Breast pump cleaning

Hello I'grand a FTM my son is 24 days onetime. And he has been breastfeed since he was 3-4 days old he was in the nicu and so I had to pump and take him milk so now that nosotros are home nosotros take began to nurse just nosotros aren't EBF yet they told me to accept a bottle a day abroad and replace information technology with nursing so that'due south what nosotros have been doing. Just anyways my question is has anyone used babe wipes to clean there pump pieces I bought the actual pump cleaning wipes but they are so expensive. I plan on using wipes when I go dorsum to work but also lately I've been using the wipes throughout the middle of the dark pumpings due to the kitchen beingness downstairs I just don't wanna go downwardly there every three hours subsequently I'm washed pumping. So just curious if baby wipes are safe to utilise?

What I have been doing is later I finish pumping I will put the pump parts in a ziplock bag and put them in the fridge and clean when I go up. I do the same for work, I will put the parts in the fridge and clean when I get abode at the finish of the 24-hour interval. I don't know well-nigh using infant wipes though. I totally agree with how expensive the pump wipes are.

@JensineLynn,

I don't recollect baby wipes would work well enough without refrigerating in betwixt.

I accept 3 sets of pump parts which saved me early on when I was pumping out and canteen feeding after each nursing session. At present at 4 months they are a god transport for work too. I use i set up for my starting time thing in the morning pump. I take one to piece of work (and keep them in a zippy bag in a cooler between sessions) and then use the last set for my final pump of the night before bed then wash everything 1 time per 24-hour interval. I retrieve the added price of extra pump parts is definitely worth it particularly if you are going to become dorsum to piece of work and will need to pump in that location.

@JensineLynn,

You can just wipe them dry with a paper towel and keep them refrigerated in between pumps. I use plastic Tupperware so I don't waste ziplock bags. If yous don't want to go downstairs to the kitchen in the eye of the nighttime (I don't blame you!) you can keep the milk bottles and pump parts in a libation with 3-4 ice packs in your room. I do this during the day at piece of work (I work in the field) using a backpack cooler to agree my milk and all my pump parts.

Why refrigerate the parts? Can you reuse them when you do that?? I've never heard that. So if I merely wipe them downward and refrigerate after I tin reuse??

One more quest - since you're only supposed to mix milk that is the aforementioned temperature (air-condition new pumped milk before adding to existing refrigerated pumped milk) does it matter that you're pumping warm milk through parts that have cold milk?

I wouldn't apply babe wipes, I don't think the chemicals in those would cervix side red "nutrient rubber." Equally for combining unlike temps, that seems to be an outdated dominion that just won't die. It doesn't make sense in context with other nutrient safety rules, and I never followed it. Just a few drops remaining on the pump parts are certainly nada to worry over.

"Neck side ruddy?" Wth? That's "be considered."

I work total time and I pump 3x times a day. I refrigerator the parts btw sessions and launder at dwelling every night. I have always added fresh pumped milk to refrigerated Milk. Dd is seven months and doing great!

Why refrigerated the parts?

@marichusj2001,

You refrigerate since they have milk on them and then you merely have to wash once a twenty-four hours. I'thousand nonetheless confused most adding fresh milk to cold milk. I read something recently that instructed me to practise that but information technology'due south hard with the traditional thinking in which y'all can't do that.
